Rev. Aaron D. Hofius, Pastor

Aaron Hofius was born in South St. Louis City. While growing up in South and West St. Louis County, he spent much of his childhood cheering on the Cardinals and hoping for a spot on their starting pitching rotation. Aaron and his wife Andrea were married in 2000 and they have been blessed with three little baseball fans: Aurora, Amaris, and Aria. In 2007, Aaron completed an internship at The Covenant Presbyterian Church in St. Louis and finished a Master of Divinity degree at Covenant Theological Seminary. He then served as an Associate Pastor at Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Virginia. In 2010, Aaron accepted the call as Pastor of Cornerstone, and the Hofius family returned to St. Louis. They are very thankful to be part of their new church family, and they continue to root for the home team. Until the Cardinals find a need for an over-the-hill southpaw with limited natural talent, Aaron is quite content with his promised roster spot on the Cornerstone softball team.

Elders are elected by the members of the congregation to provide leadership and administration for the church. The pastor and elders together (called the “Session” of the church) are responsible for the spiritual oversight and direction of the congregation. Three men are currently serving as elders at Cornerstone:

  • Dave Haverdink is a civil engineer at Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. Dave and his wife have five children.
  • Rick Matt is the Editor of Print Communications at Covenant Theological Seminary. Rick and his wife have four children

Our deacons are also elected by the congregation and provide for the physical needs of the church (both the people and the facilities). Deacons minister to those in need within our congregation, coordinate mercy ministries outside of the congregation, and attend to our facility and property needs. Cornerstone is served by the following deacons:

  • Dennis Donnelly
  • Tom Hillrich
  • John Maddox
  • Randy Mayo
  • Richard Moore
  • Chas Younger
